Causes of menstrual irregularity
Common causes of menstrual irregularities include changes in contraceptive or hormone imbalance, particularly estrogen and progesterone their level varies throughout the month. Hormonal imbalances can be caused due to various medical conditions as well.
Hormonal imbalance and Irregular Periods may be caused due to sharp changes in body weight (increase or decrease), strenuous exercise or exposure to unusual emotional stress.

Thyroid treatment will be determined depending on the nature of the problem. Hypothyroidism will be treated by giving thyroid hormones while the other Hyperthyroidism will be treated by Radiopharmaceutical or by partial surgical removal of the thyroid gland or in its entirety. Once the balance is achieved thyroid function normally regulate the menstrual cycle.
